Body image concerns are very common and can be very distressing. Often the way we think or behave can maintain our body image distress. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy offers helpful tools to change unhelpful thinking and behaviours, which can improve our own body image. We can also think about how we see ourselves more generally and what is important to use when considering our body image concerns.
This webinar will provide tips and strategies to improve body image, along with various worksheets to put into practice the strategies covered in the webinar.
Key topics covered:
- About body image: A discussion of what we mean by body image, the impact of body image concerns and where these concerns might come from.
- Targeting self-talk: Strategies on how to improve our negative thoughts and self-talk related to our body image.
- Targeting unhelpful behaviours: Strategies on how to change unhelpful behaviours associated with our body image, such as avoidance of situations or activities and checking mirrors.
- Body image and your sense of self: A discussion on looking beyond body image and what makes us ourselves.
If you think you might be experiencing an eating disorder, we recommend you speak to your GP in the first instance for more tailored guidance than this webinar can provide.
