An Introduction to Men's Mental Health

This webinar was created to provide a supportive space and offer practical guidance to help men look after their mental health.

Everyone experiences mental health difficulties at some point in their lives. Misconceptions around what it means to be a “man” can stop us from acknowledging these or make us feel worse. Life comes with its ups and downs, and being honest with our emotions can help us deal with these and grow from our experiences. There are specific tools we can use to manage our mental health. This webinar introduces cognitive behavioural therapy and practical guidance to help men manage their mental health. It also includes information about the support offered by the NHS Hertfordshire and Mid Essex Talking Therapies service for anyone interested in receiving further help.

Key topics covered:

  • What is mental health: The webinar explores what mental health is and some of the misconceptions surrounding men’s mental health.
  • What are some common mental health difficulties: The webinar explores what can cause these difficulties and how they can impact men.
  • How can therapy help: The webinar introduces cognitive behavioural therapy and offers some helpful coping mechanisms.
